CORSICAN PAINTBRUSH - Lichens And Moss
ROBERT HORTON - Broken Mask 2000-2004
Ars Nova - Muzyka dawna na Wawelu

Lori Scacco (eastern developments)

Here I've listed my Top 7 of 2007.
In no particular order:

"Control"
This was by far my favorite new film of the year. Exquisitely shot
with a subtle and simple narrative arc, to me it's a perfect manifestation
of the poetic minimalism and emotional depth of Joy Division's music.
It is gorgeous and heartbreaking.

"I Am Under No Disguise" - School of Seven Bells
I love the melodies and vocal textures on this track. Claudia Deheza
has a voice that makes me want to cry, and when she and her sister
Alley sing together the result is really magical.

"In Rainbows" - Radiohead
I think all the hype and praise of this record is well-deserved.
I can't stop listening to it.

"The Poles" - Ann Stephenson
This is a brilliant long-form poem that is soon to be published,
and it speaks for itself.
Excerpts can be found here: http://www.coconutpoetry.org/stephenson1.htm

"Kes"
I can't believe I had never seen this film before this year.
It's a naturalist portrait of an alienated schoolboy in working-class
England, released in 1970 and directed by Ken Loach. Its stunning tone
gives it a dreamy quality that takes it beyond the usual realm of
British social realism.

"23" - Blonde Redhead
I have loved everything that Blonde Redhead has done since the
beginning, but the songs on this record in particular have a sense of
optimism to them that is refreshing to hear out of these guys
(and lady).

Pylon - Live @ the Mercury Lounge, NYC
The return of Pylon is one of the best things to happen in music this year.
Live they sound as fresh and pure as I'm sure they did in 1979.
Vanessa Briscoe-Hay is one of the most original voices in rock & roll
and on stage she radiates such joyous energy. So much of the music
that's happening today can be traced directly back to Pylon,
and we should all bow down to them in praise!

mondii (spekk/plop)

Mono Fontana "Cribas" (intoxicate records)

Patten (kaleidoscope)
